PROJECT BACKGROUND:

The Lake Nona Region is a modern planned community in Orlando, Florida, made up of sleek family homes, bungalows, and leafy gated communities. The area is home to a state-of-the-art health campus, the USTA National Campus and amenities galore. The Oasis at Moss Park Preserve is a luxury property modeled after its sister property a half mile away, but revised with modern amenities and an updated look. Where the sister property used very traditional colors like dark browns, reds and oranges, the new property incorporates a brighter color palette that makes it more contemporary now, while also retaining a more classic look as it ages. Summer Classics worked with Kira Johns, Designer at Picerne Real Estate Group to supply furniture for the pool deck and cabana area.

THE CHALLENGE:

Due to construction delays, the project was a year behind the scheduled opening date making it very important for all furniture and finishes to arrive on time.

THE SOLUTION:

With such a long construction delay, lead designer Kira Johns was under pressure to make sure the products would arrive in a timely manner. The Summer Classics team stepped up and worked to ship all pieces as quickly as possible. “I love working with Summer Classics because their products are very modern looking and they offer a wide palette of choices featuring different materials that are also still cohesive,” said Johns. “Other suppliers’ collections are all woven and dated, while Summer Classics features simple, clean lines with a modern feel. The
price point is very good and my rep Angela is amazingly helpful anytime I need anything, especially when I’m trying to meet a deadline like on The Oasis at Moss Park Preserve.”

The Picerne design strategy incorporated a range of neutral gray and slate colors into the pool deck furniture and utilized bright blues in the fabrics for an extra pop of color. Along with the vivid colors, Johns chose a life size chess board and in-pool lounge chairs to make the space cozy and fun with more of a hotel feel than that of an apartment. “We chose the Charleston Aluminum line for the chaise lounge chairs, dining chairs—both arm and side chairs—and the square dining table on the pool deck,” said Johns. “They are the perfect gray color, but with a nice brown tint that matches the hue of the building itself. The tables from this collection feature clean lines, and look very polished instead of a more scrolled style.” The Charleston Aluminum collection blends a classic wide plank coastal furniture design with updated proportions and materials capable of withstanding environmental elements. Crafted from durable wrought aluminum with a powder-coated finish, this collection is built to last for years of enjoyment. For poolside lounging, Johns also used Summer Classics Oscar Sling Chaise, which offers superb comfort and a sleek, modern design that fit well with the Charleston collection.

In the pool cabana area, Johns continued the Charleston Aluminum collection with tables, chairs and barstools that blended seamlessly with the other products from the pool deck. “The Summer Classics products and fabrics work so well with some of the other products I use such as umbrellas, stand-alone day beds, corn hole games, and pergola curtains,” said Johns. “I really love the versatility.”

RESULTS:

All current residents love spending time on the pool deck and the cabana, and these areas have become a major selling point of the property.
